Search

Docmost provides a full-text search that lets you find pages and attachments across your workspace. You can open search from the top navigation bar or the sidebar.

There are several ways to open the search dialog:

  • Click the Search bar at the top of the page.
  • Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl/Cmd + K.
  • Click Search in the space sidebar to open search with AI Answers enabled.

Searching for Content​

  1. Type your search query in the search field.
  2. Results appear instantly as you type, showing the page title and a content preview with matching terms highlighted in bold.
  3. Click a result to navigate to that page.

Filters​

You can narrow your search results using two filters below the search field:

Space Filter​

Click the Space dropdown to choose where to search:

  • All spaces — Search across all spaces you have access to.
  • Specific space — Limit results to a single space. By default, this is set to the space you are currently viewing.

The dropdown includes a Find a space search field to quickly locate the space you need.

Type Filter​

Click the Type dropdown to filter by content type:

  • Pages — Search page titles and content.
  • Attachments — Search for uploaded files and attachments.

AI Answers​

When AI Answers is enabled, you can ask natural language questions about your workspace content and receive AI-generated answers based on your pages.

To use AI Answers:

  1. Toggle AI Answers on in the search dialog.
  2. Type your question in the search field. The placeholder changes to "Ask a question...".
  3. Click the Ask button or press Enter.
  4. The AI processes your question and returns an answer based on the content in your workspace.

AI Answers requires an AI provider to be configured in your workspace settings. If no AI provider is set up, the feature will not return results.
